A Case of Congenital Toxoplasmosis

Abstract

|
Congenital toxoplasmosis is caused vertical transmission of Toxoplasma gondii by the mother during gestation. The broad clinical spectrum of congenital toxoplasmosis of congenital toxoplasmosis ranges from stillbirth or death shortly after birth
to
survival with either cerebral damage or mild or subclinical disease, consisting usually of ocular involvement.
The authors experienced a case of congonital toxoplasmosis in 7 month old male. Ocular examination showed petinochoroiditis nystagmus, microphthalmos, posterior synechiae, cataract, optic nerve atrophy and strabismus. Systemic investigation
revealed
psychomotor retardation, marked hydrocephalus with marked cortical atrophy, multiple small nodular calcifications in basal ganglia, bracheocephaly and webbed neck.
